SHARING: Hotel staff and fellow Muslims performing the korban
PETALING JAYA: In conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, De Palma Hotel Sepang held a korban ceremony yesterday when four cows were sacrificed and the meat distributed to Rumah Anak Yatim Pengasih orphanage, the nearby community as well as its staff and their families.
De Palma Hotel group general manager Datuk Mohd Ilyas Zainal Abidin said this was an annual event in which staff were encouraged to participate.
"Each year, we choose a different De Palma Hotel for the ceremony. Last year, it was De Palma Hotel Ampang," he said.
"Whichever hotel plays host, our staff from sister hotels are welcome to stay at the host hotel with their families and use the facilities, just like our customers."
Mohd Ilyas said this year, the meat was distributed to an orphanage and a committee was also entrusted with sharing the meat with the neighbouring community.
De Palma Hotel became Islamic syariah compliant in 2008. They are the first hotel chain to do this in South East Asia.
There are plans by De Palma Hotel Sepang to include a training facility for Akademi Syariah for corporate teambuilding by next month.
